Greasy Hair

Once upon a time there lived a little boy named Bridger.  He loved his little sister--and although he acted very uninterested in her love of ribbons, bows, nail polish and lipstick, I'm pretty sure he was secretly fascinated.  How can I be sure of this you ask?  Well, he usually wants his big toe painted red when Kennedy has her nails painted (he likes to pretend that his toe has been injured and bleeding...) He also likes to put pretend make-up on her.

Anyway...this is Kennedy.  She still doesn't have much in the way of hair, but what she does have is beautiful and shiny.  If anyone tells her she has brown hair, or blonde hair--she will correct them and say: "No, it's 'golden' hair.  Like Parunzel..."

One night, when these two were supposed to be sleeping, they snuck into another room to get some chapstick for their chapped lips (there's always some excuse at bedtime...).  Apparently one thing led to another and Bridger ended up rubbing half the bottle into his sister's hair.  They were both very proud.  They thought it was beautiful and shiny.

This is what she looked like.  A big greasy mess.  I washed it three times that night but finally gave up and sent her to bed.  The next morning we washed it again--with dishsoap--another 5 times.  Nothing was working.  She didn't seem to mind, it went along perfectly with her dress-up clothes--she still thought it looked nice, but Bridger felt pretty bad.

After doing some research, I tried corn startch.  It took 3 treatments, but finally absorbed all of that greasiness.

What a mess!!!

Finally, we had our bouncy haired girl back!  What a relief--now we just keep the vaseline under lock and key.  Oh, and we duct-tape them to their beds at night....

French Fries and Pizza

I am proud to say that Bridger is an official skier now!  Jer has been teaching him--he's been four times in the past couple of months and he really loves it!  This kid has no fear on a snow covered mountain.  Show him the Easter Bunny or take him on a ride at the State Fair and he freaks out a little, but he has no problem on ski's.  Weird!

His first time skiing he went with some friends and he had a blast!  So much fun that it made for a good nap on the ride home :)

I thought Bridger would be nervous on the chair lift as well--but I was wrong.  Apparently while on the ride he kept cracking jokes about jumping off and landing on unsuspecting victims...that made Jeremy a little nervous!

Here is Bridger doing pizza (slowing down) with his edgie wedgies (I have no idea how to spell that, but it's the little tie that keeps the tips of your ski's together--he was just a little fascinated with them for some reason...)

And here he is doing french fries (what makes him go really really fast!)  Now that he's comfortable with the basics--he has started to make up his own tricks.  There's the hot dog (funny how he kept with the fast food theme...) where he ski's on one leg down the hill.  And yes, he's pretty good!  Although he does admit to crashing....a lot....but he likes to crash, so I guess it's okay.  He especially likes it when he crashes, does a somersault and his ski's fly off....

Here he is with Connor and Tate--they are so cute!

Our next job is to get this little guy a helmet--especially now that we know he loves to crash so much!  But for now he looks so cute in his moose hat!  People skiing past him would call him "moose tracks"--and he loved that.

**Since these pictures, Jeremy has accidentally taken Bridger down an intermediate mogul hill--Bridger said it was too bumpy, but he still made it to the bottom.  Also, he managed to leave Jeremy in the dust one time--skiing down the mountain all by himself--Jeremy couldn't catch up to him until they reached the bottom!  And finally, Bridger is working on a new (made-up) trick:  the doughnut.  It's where he spins in circles while skiing--he hasn't quite mastered this one yet--but I wouldn't be surprised if he does!

March Happenings

March was kind of a slow month for us--so we decided to make our own fun.  We did sidewalk chalk on the few "warmer" days that we had.  Bridger and Kennedy love putting on their capes and running around outside yelling "superman!" at the top of their lungs.  I also just have to say that Kennedy is in that "dress yourself-the more layers the better" stage of life.  It's usually very colorful :)

My mom made these capes for them a while ago and they get plenty of use!

Lately, Bridger's very favorite thing to draw is volcano's erupting or bomb's exploding....such a boy!

And on one cold day, they both really wanted to drive their cars outside in the dirt--but since we don't have a fence yet and it was freezing and there were tons of construction workers outside, I didn't think it was such a good idea.  They both cried and cried and cried until we came up with a compromise.  This was it.  Bridger was the engineer of the project, he told me he wanted parking lots and showed me where to put them.  He said he needed swimming pools and showed me where to put them.  It was quite the process.  In fact, it's still on our floor--it's been about 3 weeks :)

And then there was St. Patrick's Day.  This year, we decided to set a trap to see if we could catch that leprechaun (that is a hard word to spell!!!)  I know what you're thinking---a carrot?  well, you'd think we were trying to catch the easter bunny...it was all I had and all I could think of.  I would have done a green vegetable, but I thought a pile of spinach would be even more silly.

In the morning, the kids found the carrot gone and a pile of silver in it's place.  They wondered why the leprechaun didn't leave gold.  I figured it was because the leprechaun knew that gold candy's usually have nuts in them and that he knew this little boy and girl didn't like nuts...or something like that.  Whatever.

There was a beautiful sunrise that morning!  Oh, how I miss running--it's just not possible right now, but soon...very soon...

That leprechaun played all sorts of tricks on us!  He turned all the chairs upside down, hung toilet paper from the railings and taped socks to the ceiling.  Before Bridger fell asleep the night before, he wanted me to reassure him that the leprechaun wouldn't take any of his toys for a trick.  He was quite worried.  I told him that it would never happen :)

We wore our green clothes, ate green pancakes and of course, we finished off the day with corned beef and cabbage--one of Jeremy's favorite meals.  And surprisingly enough, it turned out to be one of Bridger's favorites!  Who knew??

Our St. George Getaway!

A couple of weeks ago we were able to leave the wintry blah's and escape to sunny St. George for the weekend.  It was heavenly!  Even the drive was great--thanks to our new car and dvd player--such an amazing thing for those long car rides.  I have two t.v. heads whose eyes were glued to the movie for 2.5 hours.  Sigh.

Bridger's movie watching method is very serious.  He never takes his eyes off the screen.  His face reacts to what's going on, but he never moves.  ever.

Kennedy has a slightly different approach....She like to watch movies--especially when it's the only thing to do.  But, she likes to do it in style.  And style for her means not one.....
but two pairs of sunglasses.  She was pretty happy in this position for most of the movie.  And don't try to tell her that her sunglasses are upside down....because they're not.  They're just not.

We were supposed to head to St. George with Jeremy's family--but the morning of, there was a great and terrible sickness that overcame them...how sad is that?  We really missed having them and kept hoping that they could come down, eventually, but it never worked out.  Sooooo.....we were stuck with the 4 bedroom house all to ourselves.  We only used two rooms, but I stole all the pillows off all the other beds.  I figure you need one pillow for every month pregnant you are....I needed 8 pillows...

Our first day we had to go to Pioneer Park--such a fun place.  I came here all the time when I was a senior (yes, I lived here for a year--I lived many places for a year.....St. George was fun.  My fondest memories?  Ami, ice cream, hiking, ghost towns and graduation--there were fireworks.  I was salutatorian.  Impressed??  You should be, I beat out all 20 of the other seniors for it :)  But BYU didn't need to know how many seniors there were...  I also won the award for "Most Considerate" and "Best to take home to mama"  but now I'm just going off on a tangent...)

Back to Pioneer Park---Bridger and Kenndy felt like such explorers here!  They loved climbing into all the crevices and jumping on all of the rocks.  I only had a minor heart attack as we climbed the main rock to see the view--they weren't allowed any closer than 50 feet from the edge...I was a little nervous...

This is our only family picture--since no one was ever around to take it for us.  It only seems obvious that Bridger's spikes took up more of the picture than he did!  I tried 5 times and finally I was able to get 1 1/2 of his eyes.  (as a side note--after every picture my nose needed to be itched--those spikes are tickly!)

Do you know what this is???  It's the sky.  Yes, the sky is still blue in case you were wondering.  Just perfect.
The kids had fun playing in all of that red dirt.  Bridger left his name all over the park.  Kennedy attempted to do the same.  But then they started making "dinosaur tracks"  to trick everyone into thinking there were dinosaurs here.  Very tricky.

Another day, we went into Snow Canyon and hiked into one of their narrows.  It was a perfect hike for the kids and the scenery, as always, was breathtaking.  Bridger loved being the leader, and Kennedy always needed her hand held, it was so nice to get back into our hiking routine--we have missed it over the winter!  We had a picnic here and the kids had fun chasing the "chickmunks" (as Kennedy calls them).

The house we stayed at was so nice!  It was hard to find a place in general, since it was Valentines and Presidents Day weekend, this was all they had and I think we scored.  One night, Jer grilled steak and crab legs.  Have I ever said how scared of octopus', crabs and lobsters Bridger is?  He was beyond mortified that we could eat such hideous things.  But worst of all, was when Kennedy tried a bite.  He couldn't even look.  He hid his head under the table and shuddered while Kennedy realized that she really like crab legs.  He even let out a scream one time.  Poor Bridger.  He'll like it one day.  Mark my words...

Yes, we had oreo's every night.  Is that such a crime??
This was Bridger's very favorite part of the whole vacation.  There was a wii.  There was a monster truck game.  We have nothing of this kind at our house.  We are boring.  Enough said.

p.s.  He was very good.  He beat Jeremy and I many times.  How do they know how to do this stuff??  Kids these days...
This was our house!  We are soooo coming back when it's warmer--there was a pool and a hot tub, a firepit and a basketball court in the back yard for crying out loud!  The only funny thing was that the owner asked us to pretend to be Mr. and Mrs. Leibowitch if any of the nieghbors asked...We owned a chain of dry cleaning stores in Denver....  Hmmmm.  Ignorance is bliss, don't you think?
I'd say the other highlight of the trip for Bridger was the lava rocks. He is obsessed with natural disasters right now--and volcano's fall in that category.  We let them each take one home and just knowing that his rock used to be red hot lava was sooo exciting...they just had to do the happy dance.

By the way, Kennedy's highlight's included oreo's, going out to breakfast and our occasional stops at the gas station for a treat.  Yes, she is a sugar-holic.
And what's a trip to St. George without a stop at the temple.  It was such a perfect day--right around 60 degrees and there were little patches of green and flowers everywhere!
Highlights of this trip for me included finding a bag of old buttons (they were green and yellow--so pretty!), finding a bumper pad on sale for 90% off for the baby and fresh air!  And as for Jeremy, he's not here, but I'd venture to say that he enjoyed going to Sportsman's Warehouse and Neilsen's Frozen Custard.  What is it that they say about the family that shares ice cream together?? Nothing, I guess.  But I'm sure it doesn't hurt.
