Trick or Treat

Charlotte a.k.a. the Snuggle laundry detergent bear
Age: 6.5 months

Favorite part of costume:  Well, I have no idea what her "favorite" part was.  But, my favorite part was 10 pink piggies peeking out of those bear legs.  I also love to hug her when she's so soft and squishy.  I also love the pink flower.  She is a girl after all...

Least favorite part:  She can't crawl in this thing.  It's just far too slippery!  Also, there were times when her little bear hood would slide around so that it was backwards.  She probably didn't enjoy having all the lights turned off!

Bridger a.k.a Black Beard
Age: 5.5 years

Favorite part of costume:  Chip, his parrot.  He also really loved how I cut his pants to look like they were ripped (I seriously got a lot of thank you's on that one...go figure...)  He loved the coins on his vest and the ruffles on the front.  You see, he is a pirate captain, the man in charge, not the guy who scrubs the decks.

Least favorite part:  The pants are slippery.  He is skinny.  Hence, the pants fell down a lot.  Also, the eye patch gets old after a few hours (yes, I said "hours").

Kennedy  a.k.a. Cinderella
Age: 3.3 years

Favorite part of costume:  Could it be the shimmering dress? The glass slippers? The long white gloves?  No, pretty sure it was the lipstick.  And the sparkling eyeshadow.  You gotta see this girl talk with lipstick on.  It's pretty funny.

Least favorite part:  Those glass slippers make her feet REALLY sweaty.  It may not have bothered her, but it should have.  She has a hard time walking in them, but she learned on her own, long ago, that sometimes beauty = pain. :)  Another thing she disliked?  Getting lipstick on her white gloves.  Heaven forbid!

It was a wet and cold night this year, but the kids had a blast trick-or-treating.  We were only out for 30 minutes before they gave in to the hot chocolate bribe, but their buckets were already full!  We had lots of fun seeing their friends all dressed up in the neighborhood.  We met a "real" witch and wisely decided to bypass the house with the chainsaw at the front door....SCARY!  I would have screamed if that guy would have even looked at me!

I live in a world of rainbows and butterflys and I would like to keep it that way....

The kids are already planning their costumes for next year!  I'll have to start sewing in June this time--for my back's sake!

Pumpkin Picking

We've had Halloween fever at our house recently (more on that later...) so we were pretty anxious to get our pumpkins.  Last year, we waited a little too long and all the good ones were gone.  So, this year, on October 1st, we were the first ones in the patch :)

We go to this fun little farm only a mile or two from our house.  The kids had fun pretending to drive the tractor.

And from now on, on this blog, instead of picking out the very best picture, I'm going to post the "picture taking process".  If photographing two is hard, then three is harder.  Again with the eyes, Bridger!  Sometimes I have to tell him to smile like he's a human boy.  Kennedy's pretty good--except she's got that frozen smile from her namesake...(scroll through these three pictures to see the transition of a dying smile...)  And then Charlotte.  She's still small, but you can see in her eyes in the first picture that she really really really wants to lick that pumpkin.

Like a true princess....Bridger, as usual, is the horse slave prince.  Honestly, it was his idea.  I'm sure the ride was a little bumpy for her :)

I wish we had space for a large pumpkin patch!  I would set out a hundred of them if I could!

When we first got there, I told Jer that I really wanted a Cinderella pumpkin.  Kennedy heard the magic word and wanted one too, of course!

This is seriously the biggest pumpkin we have ever gotten! And the stem is so long and pretty--Jer found it--he has a good eye for pumpkins :)

Here's the loot!  After each picking out one (we got the white one for Charlotte...) Kennedy and Bridger decided that we all needed a baby pumpkin too.  It was a heavy wagon!  We took them home, hosed them off and now they take semi-permanent residence on our front porch.  They're just so cute and colorful!

My girls

While window shopping with my friend Kara, we found this ADORABLE Halloween fabric--it's got pink in it!  I just knew that I needed to make a dress (or two) out of it for my two girls.  It's funny though, I'm not used to having two girls.  I only got enough fabric to make one dress--but I luckily had plenty to do two.

We had a mini photo shoot out on the front porch with all of our pumpkins and the "dog with wings--he likes it when you pet him on the back" says Kennedy.  It was a perfect Halloween over cast day.  Charlotte was in a wonderful mood for pictures.  I took one perfect picture...and then my battery died.  Uggh!  I hate it when that happens!  So we went inside and waited...and waited...hoping Kennedy wouldn't mess up her hair and Charlotte wouldn't get grumpy.  Luckily, it worked out :)

I just love these big brown eyes!  She turns 6 months old tomorrow. (SIGH!!!)  And she's finally gotten rid of her "man hair".  Now it's just all over fuzziness--and it's brown too.  Brown hair and brown eyes and statement eyebrows :) she is just so cute!

And then there's Kennedy--she's been a crack up lately!  First of all, she wouldn't stop kissing the pumpkins.  I tried to let her be natural and do what she wanted, but I finally had to tell her to stop.  It got so bad at one point that I even had to count to three...yikes!

She is such a doll and such a princess--but not in a spoiled "I-get-everything-I-want-way".  I overheard Bridger yesterday telling her that "you're a princess!  Princesses never have to do anything--they always let their princes do it for them!"  (he was picking up a crayon she dropped on the floor--that kid's going to make a great husband :) )

Separately they were great to photograph.  Together....not so much.

There was straw eating.

And more straw eating.

Strangling Hugging.

And no one looked when I told them to.

At least not at the same time...

But there was lots of love.

Charlotte can do no wrong in Kennedy's eyes.  If she pulls her hair, slimes her favorite princess, wipes her nose on her favorite blanket or screams non stop--it doesn't matter--Kennedy just says "oh, that's okay!"

Everytime a picture of Charlotte comes up on the computer--Kennedy lets out a loud "Uggghhh! Charlie is sooo cute!"  And then proceeds to shake her head back and forth trying to compute Charlotte's ridiculous amounts of cuteness.

Then there are the petnames.  There have been thousands.  Here is a short list:

Babe
Charlotte-babe
precious darling
cutie pie
milky baby
water baby
juice baby (really, if Kennedy is holding something in her hand--it becomes a pet name...)
Charlie
Char
sweetheart
pretty girl
chubba wubba
chubba wubba fubba tubba lubba
charlotte warlotte
little worm (Charlotte crawls now--all over the house--she started a couple of weeks ago.  Yes, 5                    months old--why do my kids have so much energy!)
roly poly (this name was created when Charlotte started rolling over--at around 2 1/2 months...)

Then there are the five colds this poor girl has suffered through in her short life.  All thanks to the hot humid breath of her older sister, I'm sure.  There are so many kisses in a day--and long drawn out "hhhhiiiiii!" 's right in her face.

You get the point.  LOTS of love :)  It's a good thing.
