Once upon a time there lived a little boy named Bridger. He loved his little sister--and although he acted very uninterested in her love of ribbons, bows, nail polish and lipstick, I'm pretty sure he was secretly fascinated. How can I be sure of this you ask? Well, he usually wants his big toe painted red when Kennedy has her nails painted (he likes to pretend that his toe has been injured and bleeding...) He also likes to put pretend make-up on her.
Anyway...this is Kennedy. She still doesn't have much in the way of hair, but what she does have is beautiful and shiny. If anyone tells her she has brown hair, or blonde hair--she will correct them and say: "No, it's 'golden' hair. Like Parunzel..."
One night, when these two were supposed to be sleeping, they snuck into another room to get some chapstick for their chapped lips (there's always some excuse at bedtime...). Apparently one thing led to another and Bridger ended up rubbing half the bottle into his sister's hair. They were both very proud. They thought it was beautiful and shiny.

This is what she looked like. A big greasy mess. I washed it three times that night but finally gave up and sent her to bed. The next morning we washed it again--with dishsoap--another 5 times. Nothing was working. She didn't seem to mind, it went along perfectly with her dress-up clothes--she still thought it looked nice, but Bridger felt pretty bad.

After doing some research, I tried corn startch. It took 3 treatments, but finally absorbed all of that greasiness.

What a mess!!!

Finally, we had our bouncy haired girl back! What a relief--now we just keep the vaseline under lock and key. Oh, and we duct-tape them to their beds at night....

That is positively mortifying - and hilarious. It's good to know about the cornstarch. You know, for future reference.
Crazy! I sooo wonder what was going through their minds as they were gooping it on! :)
Hope you're doing great these last few days....
Oh my! Just wait until you are busy with a new baby, then we'll see what else those two can come up with :)
oh my... That is so crazy that you washed it so many times and it didn't really help. Kids. They think of the darndest things to do with their time. =)
Oh my word... I would have died! Although it does make for a great story :).
What a cute story....but what a disaster! I'm curious about that pretty dress Kennedy is wearing, I've never seen it before. Did you take these pics with your new camera? I can tell the difference. great pic of Daddy and his princess.
So cute! I'm so glad you blogged about the Vaseline in the hair :) Such sweet pics! I just love my niece and nephew!
