So, it was an interesting night last night as I was putting Bridger down to bed. He seemed to go down okay--after an hour of silence from his room, I decided to go outside and weed the flower bed. Jeremy was gone, but I opened the front window so that I could (hopefully) hear him and/or see him if he needed me. However, I was confident that he was asleep at this point. About 30 minutes into my weeding, I look up to see Bridger running towards me from the direction of the backyard. What??? I was in shock. Why was he outside and for how long??? He started talking right away...something about how a little boy was playing with one of the trucks he left outside--apparently it needed rescuing.
Well, I took him up to his room--hardly speaking--(been trying the super nanny approach), laid him in bed shut the door and left. This time I put up the safety gate on the stairs. At least so I'd know he wouldn't escape again! It was quiet for a long time--probably an hour again. I thought he was asleep until he started calling my name...over and over and over again. For twenty minutes he called my name, so I finally decided to check on him (but I wasn't planning on talking to him... :) ).
I wasn't prepared for what I saw when I opened his door. He had gotten into the $10 jar of brand new diaper rash cream--spread it everywhere. It was rubbed all over the carpet, door, walls (blue walls are a great canvas for little white handprints...) bed, blankets, pajamas, toys and mostly him. He was a greasemonkey at its finest--covered from head to toe with the white greasy stuff. He could tell I was steamed. The jar had been completely cleaned out. There was nothing left. So, he decided to help me clean up. He was handing me wipes-- "here you go, sweetheart.", "here's another one sweetie." Don't ask me why he was calling me 'sweetheart', but it was a smart move on his part, cause it was difficult for me not to laugh.
I cleaned his room silently, wiped him off, got him dressed again and placed him in his bed and left. Ten minutes later, I went up to check on him and he was sound asleep in the very same position I left him. Wow, I must have been quite frightening, I scared him stiff... He has never gotten into anything quite like that before--I'll have to Bridger-proof his room from now on. Oh, well, at least I know now that I'm his "sweetheart".

That is hilarious. I have a similar story with Rachael and Andrew and a bottle of desitin. Bad news is that desitin does not come off and my luggage set was ruined.
How funny(for us to hear about - not for you!) These little boys sure know how to get us all worked up but they have the same touch at melting our hearts!! How cute is Bridger!
WOW! and it begins.... what a mess to clean up, we had to do vaseline once. But I never got called sweetheart ;) I love that little boy.
Oh my gosh, I would die! You sound like you are so patient, I guess the sweetheart thing would have calmed me a little, but aaaahhhggg!
Looks like Bridger bypassed the terrible two's and just jumped into the three's, haha :) ...and the sweetie thing..that is just too dang cute!
Oh my gosh!!! I am laughing so hard right now...mostly because that is something Ayden would be capable of, but hasn't gone to that extreme yet!! Oh and I just love the fact that he was calling you sweetheart and sweetie!! He knew how to make it right with you!! =) So sweet!!
Wow - I cannot believe he did that and I cannot believe you were able to keep your cool. But...you are scariest when quiet. Seriously.
That is hilarious! At least it wasn't poop, I have heard horror stories of that. I love Bridger.. if I call you 'sweetie' will you come clean my house?!
Bridger is such a sweetie...=) So are you aparently!! What a funny story though I am sure that it wasn't quite as funny as you were cleaning it off of every single surface in his room!! The joy of having kids right?
Sorry Lindsay...that Carrie T. comment was from you...I was logged into someone else's blog! =)
Ahhhh! That is so horrible! I am impressed that you stayed so calm and possibly even laughed. Bridger is lucky supernanny has had an influence in his life!
Lindsay, I started laughing when you said he came running from the backyard. That is so hilarious and I could just picture it. And then my mouth was just hanging open in shock the rest of the time. Good job though.
