Is anyone out there as obsessed with woodland creatures as I am? I don't know what my problem is, I just adore little deer, little birds, owls and squirrels--let's not forget hedgehogs either! When I started thinking about Charlotte's 1st birthday party--a good 2 months ago...(yes, I have a party planning addiction...) I thought that it would be the perfect excuse to indulge in my own deer fetish--since Charlotte could really care less what the theme was :)
I found these cupcake toppers on etsy--and I fell in love! The shop is called Sweet Estelle--she even let me customize my own order of cute cupcake wrappers.
Paper straws--I was dying to have these as well....it's the little things in life...
I also found these cute owl molds and decided to make chocolate suckers for a party favor--I displayed them in this fun drawer from an old library card holder (or whatever they're called...) I just inherited a stack of them thanks to my wonderful MIL :)
Bridger and Kennedy were DYING to get their hands on these--I could pretty much get them to do any chore or eat any vegetable with this as a bribe!
The party!!! I kept the food pretty simple--just cupcakes (lemon, carrot and marble) and fruit.
I've been wanting to make one of these mini banners forever! I think I'll put it up in Charlotte's room now that the party is over....it's just so tiny and cute!
Thanks again, Jeremy, for the cupcake stands!!!!!
And do you like my owl friend?? I found him at Target in the dollar section. He was black with white paint flecks all over, but a little spray paint (and a bow of course!) made her ready for a party.
My lovely friend Lois sent me all of these paper woodland creatures that she made on her cricut. Aren't they soooo cute!! She also cut out everything I needed for my birthday banner. Thank you Lois!!!
My deer family--Bridger (he has the antlers, of course...) Charlotte with the pink bow and Kennedy is the mommy--her dream come true :) I also found the pattern for these on etsy--it seemed daunting at first, but if you love deer as much as I do....then it's totally worth it!
I bought a couple of bags of cadbury eggs and we saved all the blue ones--I thought they looked like robins eggs...
And my birthday banner--it really was easy! I glittered the letters and just stacked cupcake liners behind them....think I'll save this one too...
More of my cute paper critters from Lois!
And Charlotte's birthday hat. It was a last minute addition, so I wasn't able to measure anything on her (since she was asleep)--it was kinda snug...but I still forced her to wear it :)
Just thought I'd share my creature obsession. Birds...
A bird cage....
a bird basket...
And antlers... see what I mean? Maybe an intervention is in order???
And here is the cute Birthday girl! Her birthday isn't actually until April 9th, but we had it a little early since my mom and brother, Sean were in town. I just wish my dad and Addison and Mabulane could have been here!
Vampire teeth make perfect sense, don't you think?!?
Charlotte just adores her brother and sister!
This must be the longest post in my history of posts....soooo many pictures! But it's her first birthday party! And it's my blog :)
I love those ballerina slippers!!!
Why is it that I can get a great picture with two but when I add one more to the mix it gets crazy?? See what I go through????
And check out this evolution of an injury by Kennedy...I'm pretty mean to just snap pictures the whole time...but I don't think it was really THAT traumatic!
Here's where it get's bad!
uh oh!!!
Just to let you know, I did offer comfort to her at this point. Her little nose was even bleeding! She got lots of sympathy from me (but not Charlotte...she thought it was pretty funny!) and then I took more pictures :)
My mom and my niece, Maisie
Jeremy's mom Shauna
Mom, my sister Rebecca and her daughter Maisie.
And boy did she love her cupcake! She really wanted to grab that candle. I thought it was funny how many hands jumped in to keep her from burning herself!
YUMMY!!!
Isn't the tissue paper always the funnest part?
My cute niece Madison
Grandpa Lee and Grandma Ruth
My brother Sean and my niece Reagan
My SIL Kimalee, Vanessa and Emilee
My brother Jordan and Rebecca and the grandparents down below
It was a fun party--I was so thankful that we could share it with all of our family. I LOVE planning my kids parties--I know they don't care that much about it, but I get really excited when they notice the little things I do. For instance, Bridger told me a thousand times how much he loved the felt deer and how he loved how the trees were like a forest. Kennedy loved the pink polka dot circles and she wants the birthday banner up for her birthday. And they both want me to make them a birthday hat!
I just think first birthdays are so special! And I can't believe how fast time flies!!! Happy Birthday my precious little Charlotte Leigh! We love you!!!!
