Day Four

We were going to go to the beach today, but it was kind of rainy--so we decided to visit some old family home sites.

This one is a 150 year old church--the one that the Kennedy family attended--my grandfather is buried here and most of his family. It was nice to see all of this family history.

Cute little Kennedy loved to crawl through these meadows of clover. Everything is so green and lush here--so refreshing after the desert I am accustomed to!
Here is a beautiful picture of Tea Hill--the area that the Kennedy family is from. The tide is out, but I love the red cliffs. This Island is so fun because each side has a different color of sand.

Here is a really sweet old farmhouse. I don't know who lives here, but most of the homes on the island are like this. They are so old and have so much charm--wish I could move into it!
More meadows of clover!
This is the home that my great great Grandparents on grammy's (her father's parents) side lived in. My mom remembers visiting here when she was younger. There is also a great big barn and small guest house--I think it is so beautiful! It used to back the shoreline, but that was a long time ago, there have been newer homes built since.

Just down the lane, there is a tiny little white chapel. Grammy would go here occasionally. Sean found the key in the window frame, so we let ourselves in :) (the key was so cute and antique looking--like a skeleton key!)

The church is just a one room building--from 1848. There is still no electricity in the building, there are these old old lamps along the wall. They are filled with oil--and there was a space heater in the back of the room (I imagine it gets really cold in the winter!)
The old pedal organ was still there. I don't think they use it anymore, but it was beautiful.

Here are Kennedy and I inside the church--you can see the lamps in the back.
We had mussells again for dinner and they were so yummy!
Tomorrow we are definetly going to the beach--rain or shine...I can't wait to play in the sand and water!
